The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority NEPRA has got a petition from the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) to complete the September fuel price adjustment (FCA).

On October 30, NEPRA has set up public hearing to determine the justification for the proposed adjustment and to make sure power dispatch complied with the economic merit order (EMO).

All consumer categories will receive the reimbursement if it is authorized, with the exception of lifeline customers, families using up to 300 units, electric car charging stations, users of pre-paid electricity, and agricultural consumers.

This would be the third consecutive month that FCA has been reduced after an 18-month streak of hikes.

Distribution companies were instructed by NEPRA to reimburse Rs. 0.369 per unit in the September invoices as part of the FCA ruling in July.

Because the FCA stayed positive from January 2023 to June 2024, consumers had to pay additional fees, which peaked in January 2024 at Rs. 7.05 per unit.
