ISLAMABAD – Former search engine Google executive Tania Aidrus has taken a new position leading the Digital Pakistan project, about four years after she resigned from the flagship initiative due to a conflict with her dual citizenship.
The tech pioneer, who contributed to the development of numerous excellent apps and platforms, once again became involved in the federal government’s digitization project when the PML-N-led administration established a high-level committee under the direction of Tania, marking a significant step towards digital transformation.

According to a statement released by the IT and Telecom Ministry, Ms. Aidrus has been designated as the convener of the Digital Pakistan committee.
Under the direction of the federal state minister for IT, the group will gather suggestions for the nation’s digital infrastructure, guaranteeing accessibility and effectiveness in public administration.

Tania was given the responsibility of leading Pakistan’s transition to a digital society under Imran Khan’s leadership.
Tania Aidrus got her bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University and her Master’s degree in business administration from MIT Sloan School of Management.
Her focus is on the internet’s ability to transform lives and economies by removing barriers to information something she began working towards almost 15 years ago in the computer industry.
At Google’s Next Billion Users (NBU) division, she oversaw product management and payments, helping developing nations make the switch from cash to digital payments.
