T20 World Cup 2024 | Babar Azam Leads Pakistan to Thrilling 3-Wicket Win

After a hard fight, Pakistan won in their last game. They were in an impossible situation as they fell short of a dangerous 62/6 early on, losing several crucial wickets. With the Afridis’ help, Babar Azam played an essential role in bringing calmness to the innings.

Pakistan won despite Ireland’s excellent bowling, particularly from McCarthy and the seamers. Ireland’s plan, to depend first on seamers and later on leg-spinners Delany and White, did not work out. Pakistan’s early elimination from the competition was a result of their disappointing batting problems along with challenging conditions. Ireland did not win any of the games and came in last in the group.

Though Stirling was forced to use his spinners to make up for lost overs, Ireland produced a very decent effort out of this modest total before running out of steam. They were genuinely in the game for most of their defense as they went all out for wickets over a large portion of the innings. When the winning runs were scored in the end, Babar Azam was there because he stood like a rock and took all the stress.
