Resolution Urges Humanitarian Aid and Civilian Protection in Gaza Take out

The United Nations Security Council has called for an immediate the United States decision to abstain from the vote, Reuters reports, along with an immediate and unconditional release of all captives and an end to hostilities between Israel and Hamas.

The resolution, proposed by the 10 elected council members, received the backing of the remaining 14 members of the council.

The US declined to vote to allow the Security Council to demand an immediate ceasefire for the time of Ramadan which ends in two weeks despite mounting international pressure for an agreement in the conflict that has claimed the lives of over 32,000 Palestinians.

Additionally, the resolution demands that all hostages be released immediately and without conditions.
