President Dr. Arif Alvi emphasised last year that virtual education should be used by colleges all around the nation to develop student ability and skills.

Speaking at the 13th convocation of Virtual University, the president stated that all universities would be permitted to offer 30% of their student body a virtual education under a policy that was still awaiting final approval from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in light of the rapidly changing technological landscape.
