Dr. Umar Saif, the acting Federal Minister for Information Technology, announced last week that the government will launch a project to build 10,000 state-of-the-art E-Rozgar centres across the nation to support freelancers and start-ups starting on January 11. In an interview with a private news channel, he stated that the goal of this project was to solve the problem that the 1.5 million freelancers who did not have access to appropriate workplaces were currently facing.
He added, “It is imperative that independent contractors have access to the resources and atmosphere necessary to prosper in the digital world.”
He clarified that the creation of cooperative e-rozgar centres will boost foreign direct investment and generate job opportunities. Additionally, Dr. Umar exhorted the youth to start their own businesses, as E-Rozgar would allow them to easily earn higher monthly stipends.
