The Canadian Prime Minister announced on social media that there would be fewer temporary foreign workers in Canada. Stricter laws will require corporations to explain why they cannot prioritize recruiting Canadian workers first.
The Trudeau government has also announced plans to reduce international student numbers by one-third by 2024, with an additional 10% drop likely next year. The number of students and professionals is predicted to decrease by about 30,000.
