Karachi: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) records depend heavily on the Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) for the authentication and verification of all people.
The ID paper prominently displays the CNIC number which is also referred to as the 13-digit distinguishing number.

Important data, such as date of birth, demographics, address and biometrics are associated with this number.
The CNIC has now Pakistan’s main method of identity verification in recent years.

The normal cost for a New Smart National Identity Card in October is Rs 750. The executive category currently costs Rs2,500, while the fee for quicker processing is Rs 1,500.
