Pakistani PTA tax on the iPhone 12: The Pakistani mobile phone market is dominated by affordable Android smartphones, yet despite their expensive price, Apple iPhone sales are increasing.
The devaluation of the rupee, modifications to import regulations, and government levies have all contributed to a notable increase in the cost of Apple phones in recent years.

The government has also imposed additional levies and regulations on imported mobile phones such as Federal Excise Duty, Sales Tax, Regulatory Duty, and Customs Duty all of which have increased the cost of phones in Pakistan and contributed to the global increase in the price of electronic components.
These factors promoted a spike in devices from previous generations, namely the iPhone 12. PTA Tax was implemented to control mobile phone imports and usage prevent illegal imports, and improve national security.
