Introduction:
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) introduced the Interim Placement of Fresh PhDs (IPFP) program, in order to give recent PhD graduates the chance to gain academic experience and mentorship for a year in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), post-graduate colleges run by the federal or provincial governments, or public sector research and development organizations.
This opportunity comes before the PhD candidates formally enter the academic job market. The IPFP was last updated in 2019 after being founded in 2009. The program’s main goal is to help recent Ph.D. graduates develop the professional skills and competences needed for successful teaching and research, and eventually for success in the academic field.
Eligibility Criteria For IPFP Program:
- Nationality:
- Pakistani or AJK nationality.
- Age Requirement:
- Age at the time of applying should not exceed 40 years.
- Educational Qualifications:
- Obtaining a PhD from a foreign or Pakistani university approved by the HEC.
- The PhD degree should be completed within the two years preceding the advertisement.
- Scanned copies of HEC-attested PhD degrees and/or an equivalence certificate from HEC must be uploaded with the application.
- Research Publications:
- At least two research articles in journals indexed or recognized by HEC should have been published.
- Employment Status:
- Only unemployed applicants are eligible.
- Those holding irregular or contract positions may apply.
- If selected, candidates with existing employment must resign and submit a clearance certificate from their previous employer.
- Exceptions:
- Non-gazetted employees (below BPS 17) can apply and retain their lien if selected.

Upload scanned copies of HEC-attested Ph.D. degrees or an equivalence certificate on the e-portal with the application.

Pay a nonrefundable application processing fee of PKR 3000/- through online deposit slip or ATM transfer.

Post the printed application form along with required documents and photocopies, as well as the original fee deposit slip.

Deposit should be made in favor of Director General Finance, HEC, in Account Number 1742 79001334-01 at Habib Bank Limited.
