Smartphone Showdown | Apple vs Samsung – The Battle for 2023 Sales Dominance

Breaking News About the Apple vs Samsung dominance in sales during 2023: According to an International Data Corp, Apple overtook Samsung Electronics as the world’s top smartphone vendor in 2023, taking a 20% market share, which ends Samsung’s 12 years era as top selling smartphones.

According to preliminary data from IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, Samsung had a 19.4% market share at the end of the year, followed by Xiaomi, Oppo, and Transsion from China.

The change in the rankings comes after a difficult year in which people choose less expensive cellphones instead of upgrading their due to shaky economic conditions and growing inflation.

Global phone sales have suffered as a result of China’s slower-than-expected recovery in the largest smartphone market in the world.

Despite the fact that the market fell 3.2% to 1.17 billion units last year, marking a decade low, just two of the top five smartphone makers saw growth in sales i.e. Apple and Transsion.

Even if low-end Android players like Transsion and Xiaomi saw some noteworthy growth in the second half of 2023, which can be ascribed to the rapid growth in emerging markets, stated Nabila Popal (Research director at IDC’s Worldwide Tracker Team).

Regarding Apple vs Samsung sales 2023, IDC data shows that last year’s phone shipments were up 3.7% for iPhones and down 13.6% for Samsung. Samsung lost market share in the low-end segment while focusing on the mid-to high-end segment for profitability, claims Amber Liu of research firm Canalys.

Apple is under pressure from Huawei. The iPhone manufacturer is offering discounts of up to 5% on some models within the country in an attempt to entice customers. On Friday, Microsoft overtook Apple as the world’s most valuable publicly traded firm, as Wall Street grew more concerned about the company’s high-end products, including iPhones.
