Lahore – For the first time in Pakistan, a patient was safely moved using a rescue air ambulance thanks to an initiative by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
Halima Bibi, a 40-year-old Mianwali native, was the patient; two days prior, she fell off a roof and became paralysed.
Physicians suggested that she continue her therapy in Rawalpindi after she received initial treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital in Mianwali.
On the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Halima Bibi was transported by air ambulance from Mianwali to Rawalpindi during the pivotal “golden hour”.
The patient’s relatives thanked Maryam Nawaz referring to her as an “angel,” for making the transfer easier. The chief minister of Punjab stressed that every citizen has a right to timely and high-quality medical care, which will be provided.
