Ontario – Canada observed a sharp rise in the number of foreign students in recent years, which has boosted the economy. However, the flood of foreign students has also brought about difficulties, as students must labor to pay for the expensive living expenses, housing, and tuition.
Canadian authorities discontinued their former policy which let international students work more than 20 hours per week effective May 1, 2024.

With this revelation, a temporary provision that permitted overseas students to work an unlimited number of hours in Canada has come to an end. A new 24-hour weekly limit will go into effect this autumn, in line with similar laws in other countries.
Foreign Student Work Hour Policy for Canada 2024:
The goal of the new policy is to prevent students from falling behind academically by ensuring that they prioritize their studies while still having the option to work when needed.
While working off campus might help with expenditures and offer useful experience, Canadian Immigration Minister Marc Miller stressed that international students should prioritize their academics over employment.
On the other hand, he talked about preserving the integrity of the international student program and shielding foreign students from financial risk.
In a related development, foreign students enrolled in college courses will not be qualified to obtain a work permit after graduation.
